Open Education

Open Education and Open Education resources are getting big buzz in the higher eduction arena with the advent of the MIT open course and MIT X venture.  There are a number of other institutions that are venturing into the open education arena. I would like to use this area to post some material from some the folks out there that are talking about it.

The first person to peak my interest was Curtis Bonk with this particular Blog post.  His book “The World is Open” has bee purchased by the MCC Library.

Here is Daphne Koller talking about a venture set up by Stanford.  This is an interesting video.

Koller and her fellow Stanford professor Andrew Ng have started Coursera which several top universities are using to offer free online courses.  This TED blog post outlines 12 of courses being offered.
